Brenda McGuire
I’m Brenda McGuire — an Executive Secretary, Freelance Graphic Designer, Community Builder, and small-business co-owner. By day, I serve as the General Administrative Coordinator I at Catawba Hospital, supporting the Facility Director (CEO), Assistant Director (COO), and QM/RM Director.
Originally from California, I’ve called the Roanoke Valley home since 2006. Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked across industries including environmental science, banking, insurance, human resources, substance use treatment, and mental health — experiences that have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the power of lifelong learning. I even started my career as a sample prep technician at an environmental laboratory before turning my creative passion into a degree in Communication Design from Virginia Western.
I’m married to my husband, Jason, and together we have four adult stepchildren and a grandson who lovingly calls me Mimi. Our home in Vinton, VA, is shared with two rescued dogs (Willow and Domino) and is the heart of our many creative and home improvement projects.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me exploring new hobbies, geeking out at ComiCons, watching Doctor Who or Star Trek, or planning our next DIY project. My current personal goals include learning more about environmentally friendly landscaping, climbing Dragon’s Tooth, picking up the flute again, and growing in the art of self-leadership — leading with curiosity, creativity, and compassion in every part of my life.
